The Actor Who Made his Life in Indian Cinema ' FAROOQ SHEIKH '

Farooque Shaikh was an Indian actor, philanthropist and popular television presenter. He was born in 25 March 1948 and Died in 28 December 2013. He was best know for his work in Hindi films.
His major contribution was in Parallel Cinema or the New Indian Cinema. He worked with directors like Satyajit Ray, Muzaffar Ali, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Ketan Mehta.
He acted in serials and shows on television and performed on stage in famous and performed on stage in famous productions such as
Tumhari Amrita (1992).













Shaikh was born in 1948 at Amroli, a village near Surat, Gujarat, to father Mustafa Shaikh and Mother Farida. His father Mustafa Shaikh was lawyer settled in Mumbai, whose family hailed form Hansot village ( Bharuch district, Gujarat).

After notable performances in such movies as Satyajit Ray's Shatranj Ke Khilari (1977), Shaikh appeared in his first lead role in Gaman (1978), a searing portrait of alienation in Mumbai. The ramarkable music by Jaidev and haunting lyrics by Sheheryar and Makhdoom Moinudden underline the pathos of the lead characters, superbly portrayed by Shaikh and Patil.


In Saath Saath (1982), Shaikh gave announced performance as an idealistic young man who sacrifices his principles for money. Geeta (Naval) shuns her wealthy to marry Avinash (Shaikh), an academic with a distaste for material excesses. Raman Kumar's film trace the couple's gradual estrangement at Avinash transforms into an unscrupulous businessman, much to Geeta's dismay.

Shaikh made a comeback to cinema in his later years. His utterly forgettable roles (including in insipid 2010 movie Lahore, which ironically fetched him his first National Film Award were offset by stellar performances in Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai (2012) and Avinash Kumar Singh's Listen Smaya (2013).
